Not to be confused with the other Suki-ya,  this one is more affordable and foreveralone friendly since they have portions for one. Lately, there have been an influx of restaurants who are offering deals via GroupOn, most of which are for at least two since it's a RM 40 worth of voucher for only RM 20 or something along those lines. There is also the reservation clause to think of.

It is bad enough that I am poor not financially well enough to try out your restaurant, why'd you impose such a condition to people who are genuinely interested to try your food? I am sad enough that there are no people genuinely interested in me, why do you deprive me of the one thing in life that I have got going?

Vege gyudon RM 8.90. Gyudon is basically a bowl of beef rice. Unlike our nasi goreng or fried rice, the rice and meat in this are separated. You get to truly savor the flavors of the meat with the plain rice that is served hot. This version comes with  some vegetable and yes, that is ladies finger or okra. Weird but apparently it works.

Tempura set RM 5. There are few different sets to opt from. They come with a drink and choice of side(s). Honestly, this isn't the sort of fried veggie/shrimp that I was expecting. Maybe someone forgot about them in the oil and decided to salvage it by clumping them together. Or maybe they skipped tempura 101 lesson. Either way, it was all right but certainly not a genuine tempura.

Gyu teishoku RM 13.90. The original gyudon set comes with a healthy serving of miso soup, onsen tamago (hot spring half/quarter boiled egg), pickled cabbage and a soft drink. The soup wasn't good or bad, it's the usual instant stuff with some seaweed and tofu. The cabbage wasn't very sourish but good enough as an appetizer. The egg was almost perfect with its runny whites and runnier yolk. Some may find this disgusting (why?!?!) but I love my eggs this way. Sure, there's the scare of salmonella but if I could survive my own cooking, nothing much could really hurt me. Except sticks and stones. And names. And insults.

They slices the beef rather thinly with bits of fats and lean meat. Cooked just right, it was all juicy and well marinated. Even the onion was quite soft. On its own, it maybe slightly salty but the rice certainly brings out the best of this. Sadly, with the rice, there wasn't sufficient gravy.
