Review: Homi Curry Puff, PJ SS2

 Restoran WDS, Jalan SS 2/6
47300 Petaling Jaya

It used to sell at a corner restaurant at the main SS2 area but has now shifted to the lesser known SS2 aka Chow Yang where it still operates as a stall and charge GST, all from selling curry puff (and maybe that only too). My favorite version of curry puff, I am glad that they have moved instead of closing down altogether as it meant going to Midvalley to get my curry puff fix.

In case if you are unaware, this is very different from the Malay version in that it has a crispy flaky skin. Definitely oily though it's hard to tell if it's from the curry or deep frying. Either way, you would want to savor it while it's still hot.

Multiple thin layers of pastry make up the shell while the filling is chunks of potato and bits of chicken. They keep it warm so be careful when you sink your mouth into one of these babies. At RM 2.50 each, it is definitely more expensive than your mamak variety but this is quite a big piece that can make for a nice tea time treat.

Unfortunately, I have to say that this is not as good as the one from the traveling curry puff salesman which I haven't had a chance to bump into again. Maybe ever. And that makes me sad =(
